F1: All the right moves
Brownill Vickers have followed Marussia Virgin Racing since their inception into Formula 1. It is fair to say that there have been highs and lows but the announcement of a new technical partnership with McLaren and a new technical base represents an exciting new chapter for the team. It also signals the seriousness of its intent to become a real contender in Formula One.
The long term techincal partnership with McLaren will see benefits in accessing McLaren facilities, knowledge and capabilities including use of test rigs, wind tunnel and simulator.
The team has also aquired WRT, its former technical partner, including its leading-edge technical centre in Banbury. The premises will be used over the next two years during which time the team has plans to develop a new tailor-made faciltiy to suit the teams long term plans within Formula One and bring the team under one roof.
Brownill Vickers loyality to the team stems from their involvement in providing valution and development advice regarding the development of the existing Marussia Virgin Racing Headquarters at Dinnington which they have already outgrown. The team is quoted to have said that the new premises could be located anywhere between Dinnington and Banbury. Lets hope that they decide to remain in South Yorkshire!
